Women Hit Hardest From Lack of Water

WPMC127-P1010335It is the women of the world who bear the greatest burden resulting from lack of water.  Unless people have access to safe drinking water, their hope for any acceptable level of sanitation, hygiene, sustained health and the ability to grow and prepare food is virtually impossible to achieve.

Most women spend many hours every day carrying water to their homes.  This is the custom in rural villages, towns and cities, as well as places like remote refugee camp sites, where venturing outside the camp most often means falling victim to attack and abuse.

If more women in poverty were freed up from the time it takes to simply retrieve water, they would have a much more time to learn new job skills, earn money and plan for a brighter future for their families.
