Widows Caring for Orphans:  The FulWPMC126_IMG_3261l Embodiment of James 1:27

Widows are the main caregivers in the Warm Blankets church orphan homes.  There is usually one caregiver for every five children, so there is enough love to extend to the entire household of kids in need of a hug, an encouraging word or Godly instruction.

When a new church orphan home is built, local widows are sought out to provide daily loving care and protection for the orphans in their home.  These women live right in the home and become the “aunties”, the “grandmas” and the mothers of the children.

Every one of our caregivers has a story, and many of these stories include deep sadness, loss and devastation, especially the women who have lived through war, conflict and genocide.  And yet, these women live among the children with a spirit of love, acceptance and devotion, things that orphaned children need in abundance.

We believe this model of care pleases God, as it illustrates the fullness of James 1:27.  Together, we care for the homes and the widows, in turn, help all of us to care for the children.
