From 1994 through 2001, the D.R. Congo has suffered through nearly constant civil war. The toppling of several dictatorial regimes due to coups and assassinations has prevented prolonged stability in the region. In addition, ethnic strife and conflict has erupted because of massive inflows of refugees fleeing from Rwanda and Burundi. Many orphans have come about due to the wars in this region.
The D.R. Congo remains violent, dangerous and unstable. Fighting in the streets of Kinshasa broke out in mid-March 2007 and while the immediate violence has subsided, the situation remains volatile.
Here in the capital city of Kinshasa, Warm Blankets Orphan Care and its local partners are
working together to bring peace and stability into the lives of children orphaned by the near constant conflict.
