Denpasar

Mercy Home

The Children at Denpasar are from Ambon, Alor, East Timor, and the refuge camp at Atambua (West Timor).

Denpasar Orphan home was established as a result of the East Timor riots. The nineteen (19) children at the Denpasar home were rescued from the hopelessness and despair of the Refugee Camp situated on the border of Atambua, which at the time was also plagued with an outbreak of malaria. The children were flown to Denpasar, Bali where the orphan home was started in November 2005. Although Denpasar is deemed not to have malaria, the children at the Denpasar orphan home continue to take malaria medication, due to contracting malaria before their rescue. While Denpasar is considered 'malaria free', dengue fever outbreaks continue to occur.

Each morning starts at 5am, all the children gather

and pray together for one hour and do the housework by schedule. The children go to school in the morning. A number of children at this home play guitar, and are now teaching the younger ones. In the afternoons the children study their lessons before having dinner. At 7pm they have worship and share the Gospel on a roster basis, and then close the day by praying together. All kids must be in bed by 10pm.
