Mercy Home Teluk Dalam of Nias, Indonesia, is a home for victims of the earthquake and devastating Tsunami of 2005. The children were evacuated promptly that March. Many children were separated from their parents and still have not been reunited.
Mercy Teluk Dalam was established in 2005. Precious in God's eyes, we believe these children deserve an opportunity to live a better life. This home has provided a new home and family for several orphans victimized by the 2005 tsunami and North Sumatran earthquake.
Each morning at 5.30 am, all the children gather and pray together for one hour and then do the scheduled housework. The majority of the children go to school in the morning. They enjoy their studies and after eating lunch they take a nap. At 4pm they do their housework. At 7pm, they study their lessons after having dinner. 9pm signals the close of the day with worship and prayer. At 10pm, all kids are promptly in
bed.
Most of the people in Teluk Dalam are Christians, but in the villages there are still many people who believe in animism.
The current home leaders of Teluk Dalam are Yustin and Afriana Sunbanu. Graduates of dMAKER school, Bali, it is their deep desire to care for and serve the children of Teluk Dalam. The former home leaders were Berry and Ona Sarangath, along with Ms. Nur Adil, a widow from the disaster.
