Church Orphan Home

This church orphan home is located in the Turkana District of the Rift Valley Province in Kenya. It is in the far northwestern reaches of the country, about 30 kilometers from Sudan.

Kenya is a republic that has been marred by scandals of government corruption. In recent times, violence has broken out over election results. Opposing parties are accusing each other of election fraud. Fighting has broken out in the streets.

Life can be harsh in Lodwar. Home to 10,000, Lodwar's people (mostly of the Turkana tribe) work hard and share what little they have, but resources and amenities are lacking. Malnutrition is a threat. Life here often feels hopeless.

The Lodwar Church Orphan home has already made a difference in the Lodwar community. Many who have been coming here have discovered true hope in Jesus Christ. About 230 people attend the church (160 adults/70

children) and with 5 new visitors coming each week.
Families are reconciling. Small groups learn about God via radio-based bible studies. The open air gospel meetings are attracting people hungry to hear about God.

Lodwar's children have found a loving home and family at the Lodwar Church Orphan Home. The can house up to 50 orphans and their caregivers Many of the caregivers are widows who understand their pain and loss. Food is also being donated to the church to help provide for the children and widows.

Lodwar Home's pastor George Liwan has a certificate in Bible Theology training. Pastor Liwan and his wife Esther desire to reach out to their community. Two churches have been planted and he has a vision to plant churches in the nearby areas of Kakuma and Lokichoggio.

The orphans now safe place to live, but still need provision for daily needs and their education. There is also a special need for a public address system to use at open air gospel meetings.
