Ouahigouya Sector 5

Church Orphan Home

This home is located in Yatenga, northern province of Burkina Faso, not far from city of Ouahigouya.

Burkina Faso, formerly Upper Volta, is a landlocked nation in West Africa. The Sector 5 home is located near the Ouahigouya city in the northern part of the country.

Once a French colony, Burkina attained full independence in 1960. Repeated military coups and a couple decades later, it stabilized as a Republic.

Although rich with tradition of African music, arts and crafts, financially , Burkina Faso is one of the poorest countries in the world and one of the most illiterate. Most people there are Muslim or practice some form of animism. Christians make up approximately 10 % of the population.

Children without parents typically end up doing exploitative, dangerous work to survive.  In a country where the poverty level runs high and the literacy rate is extremely low, education is not considered a priority. And, so, the cycle of hardship continues.

The Church Orphan Home offers kids in Ouahigouya an alternative to a hopeless life of hard labor and abuse. This home not only provides them a restored childhood, but also the chance to know God’s love and to grow into leaders who bring hope to their community. Will you join us in providing new future for them?
