Pernamitta

Church Orphan Home

The Pernamitta Church Orphan Home is located in the south east corner of the Andhra Pradesh province.

There’s no time to play when you’re just trying to survive.

Orphans in Andhrah Pradesh roam the streets in search of the most basic necessities. The fortunate scrounge up work opportunities. The unfortunate are swept off of the street and led into brothels.

The Pernamitta Church Orphan Home sits in the Andhra Pradesh region of India, an area where cultural gender and caste discrimination pervade daily life. Meanwhile, disease, unclean water, and malnutrition hold back the hope of escaping poverty. These children work, not just for extra spending money, but for survival. They dream of bread, not video games; they crave a family, security, and hope.

When they come to the Pernamitta Church Orphan Home, the children are allowed to play for what may be the first time in their lives. Their childhoods are restored. They are given a sense of security and the understanding that they are cared for.

So, what’s your role?

The lives of these children have changed dramatically since moving into the Church Orphan Home. Each one, regardless of caste or gender, is provided with education, food, and security...and time to just play. Together, with their widowed caretakers, they have become a makeshift family full of love, acceptance, and hope. The home needs help to sustain this family. They need you. Will you join the family at the Pernamitta Church Orphan Home?
