The Sarvaram Church Orphan Home is located near the town of Thipparthi in Andhra Pradesh, an eastern province of India. Although once a cultural center for Buddhism, the province’s population is now about 95% Hindu.
India is a country rich with breathtaking culture. With it, comes a complex set of traditions, including a caste system and a strong emphasis on lineage. This can result in abandoned children, if they are not born healthy. Orphans in this district are often the result of conflicts with neighboring countries or HIV/AIDS, which is spreading in the sub-continent rapidly.
In India’s rural areas, most children do not attend school beyond the third grade due to financial hardship and lack of hope for their future. They succumb to the same life as their parents, one filled with desperation and minimal opportunity. For the orphaned children of India, life is even more desperate and hopeless. With the loss of their parents to diseases such as tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS, orphans are left to care for themselves, struggling to survive as they attempt to live life on their own.
The Sarvaram Church Orphan Home rescues orphaned children and welcomes them with open arms into a safe loving home where they are nurtured and cared for by dedicated Christian caregivers. In addition to receiving an education, regular Bible study and essential life skills training ensures that these once desperate children will have the opportunity to live a happy, healthy life right where God planted them.
We need your help to better sustain this home. By becoming a supporter of the Sarvaram Church Orphan Home, you will become a long-distance member of the family. And, as you begin to see how you have changed these children’s lives for the better, it won’t be long until you realize that they have done the same for you!
