This home is located in the largest city of North Bali: Singaraja. North Bali is a costal area of Bali which is one of the many islands in the Indonesian archipelago.
Mercy Singaraja was originally established in February 2004 with a mix of orphans and impoverished children whose parents were unable to provide them with proper food or shelter. It was re-established June 2009, with seven children who have been rescued from the hopelessness and despair of the refugee camp in West Timor. The children are from Aileu, Dili, Nias, Remeksio, and Rote.
Each morning starts at 5am. All the children gather and pray together for one hour and do scheduled housework. They help with cleaning floors and washing dishes. In the morning they study their lessons before going to school in the afternoon. After dinner, they have worship and close the day by praying together. During the worship time the children lead songs and devotions. A number of children at this home also have talents in: playing guitar, bass, drums, singing and in computer skills. All children must be in bed by 10pm.
The Mercy Singaraja leader is Maria Atalumba. She has a passionate heart to see children's lives change for the better and is a graduate of dMAKER school, in Bali.
